Thank you Amazon!

Miscellaneous August 9, 2007

I have just discovered the ‘Wish List’ feature on Amazon and I think it’s great! All those books you think you’d like to read but will certainly forget or write on a piece of paper that you’ll then lose - and now someone else offers to remember them for you!

Now I just need them to offer to remember all the ones that I’ve already bought but haven’t managed to read yet!

It’s certainly better than just buying the books and storing them till they’re read.

Amazon also lets you search for your friends wish lists therefore at Christmas or Birthdays you can buy family and friends exactly what they want and be sure that they wont already own it.

I have a shelf allocated especially to the books I have bought but not yet read that I have to pass on my way to and from obth my bedroom and study. That way I can be shamed into not buying any more books until I’ve read those.

I also have a rule about entering bookshops - basically unless I have room for at least two more books, then I don’t as I can’t actually go into a bookshop without buying at least two, if not three books!

With your Amazon wishlist - use it to keep track, by all means, I use Amazon to browse books all the time - and then send an email to your local book shop and they’ll order them for you to pick up at the weekend…that way you keep your local bookshop going!
